Anonymous by Ross + Bute is a British, highly feminine, ageless womenswear brand with it’s core in knitwear. The label is easily recognisable by it’s signature use of decorative lace trims and buttons, high quality yarns and easy-to-wear styling. Anonymous by Ross + Bute bridges everyday essentials with must have occasion wear in a luxurious, yet affordable collection.
BRAND HISTORY
The Anonymous by Ross + Bute label is the brainchild of British fashion duo Lindy Ross and Serena Bute. Lindy and Serena were stylists on a commercial when they met and the history of Anonymous dates back to a particularly cold shoot when they provided the cast with thermal vests. During the day they were working on various creative projects when the idea of colour dying thermal camisoles and offering them as outerwear was born. Combining their strong sense of style with their knowledge of garment dying, Serena and Lindy quickly transformed their initial cottage industry into a successful fashion enterprise.
Internationally launched in 1998, the “Anonymous” signature lace-trimmed twin-set quickly became the must have item for every fashion conscious woman, attracting high profile customers worldwide, from Madonna in her “American Pie” video to Renee Zellweger in “Bridget Jones”.
Never ones to rest on their laurels Ross and Bute continued to innovate, introducing a capsule collection of highly feminine, easy-to-wear separates to compliment the beautiful knitwear under the label Anonymous by Ross+Bute.
In March 2005 the first Anonymous by Ross + Bute retail store opened on Ledbury Road, becoming a favourite with fashionable Notting Hill shoppers, including Claudia Schiffer, Laura Bailey., Alexa Chung, etc. Following the success of the Notting Hill store, a second London boutique opened on the King’s Road in 2007.
Today Anonymous by Ross + Bute is distributed through high quality stores worldwide.
DESIGNER BIOGRAPHIES
Lindy Ross began her career in the fashion industry over 30 years ago promoting young international designers in London’s then up-and-coming South Molton Street. She moved to California in the late 70’s where she customised and beaded denim for high profile clients such as Cher and Elton John. Upon returning to London she worked as a stylist on pop promos and a Costume Designer on short films and commercials when she met Serena Bute.
Serena Bute began her career working for British label Joseph. Following this, she moved to Jamaica and created a successful range of children’s wear. She returned to London in the late 90s when she married former Formula 1 racing driver Johnny Bute and they now have six children between them. It was during this time that she met Lindy Ross and together set up Anonymous by Ross + Bute.
